Dr. Patrick Schumacher brings a unique passion and talent to his practice as a clinical ophthalmologist. His dedication extends beyond the field of medicine, as he spent five years performing with the renowned Ohio State University Marching Band, showcasing his skills as a member of the snare drum line. Dr. Schumacher’s commitment to excellence was evident during his academic journey at the Ohio State University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors in the liberal arts and received induction into esteemed honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, he earned his medical degree Cum Laude from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, further distinguishing himself by becoming a member of the prestigious medical honorary, Alpha Omega Alpha.
Dr. Schumacher has experienced remarkable moments on the field, representing the Ohio State University Marching Band during the Buckeyes’ victories in the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and Citrus Bowl. After completing his internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, he pursued his surgical training with the esteemed University of Kentucky Department of Ophthalmology. His exceptional performance led to his selection as Chief Resident, and he achieved an impressive board score in the 99th percentile.
As a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Schumacher maintains active membership in reputable professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is also a devoted volunteer with EyeCare America, demonstrating his commitment to providing accessible eye care to those in need. Outside of his professional pursuits, Dr. Schumacher enjoys staying active through running, weightlifting, and soccer.
